Bucca
The Cornish strategy board game of Bucca (the merman storm-caller).
Objective: Sink enemy ships to the seabed.
Duration: 30 minutes
Players: 2
Ages: 9+
Gather plunder at different medieval Cornish ports or steal your opponent's hoards. Fly the choughs to change the orientation of the winds. Build your fleets and broad side your opponent or command the winds so they shipwreck themselves!
No die or element of chance. That which is altered remotely effects what is central to play. In other words, change the environment to influence the outcome. By this system every turn of the wind effects the fortunes of the ships. Every voyage must be well-timed, opportune yet cautious. These affected elements can simply be overlooked, and played in a naïve fashion, or divined and bent to the whim of the cunning.
Adella XIV: Bucca comes as a gloss print housed in a string & gusset sleeve.
Rules in both English and Cornish.
