About Us
Welcome to Adella – A Maritime Adventure Born in Cornwall
Adella is a completely independent games company proudly based in the historic town of Penzance, Cornwall. Our journey began with a passion for strategy, a love for maritime history, and a dash of Cornish creativity.
Our Story
The tale of Adella is as intriguing as the game itself. It started when local artist Ben Reader stumbled upon mentions of an ancient maritime strategy game in old Cornish archives. Intrigued by this lost piece of history, Ben set out to breathe new life into what was once known as "Crimps."
With an artist's eye and a gamer's heart, Ben reimagined the game, infusing it with the rich maritime heritage of Cornwall. He created the stunning visuals that transport players to the age of galleons and high-seas adventure.
A Family Affair
But Ben didn't embark on this journey alone. His cousin Pascal, a game enthusiast with a knack for strategy, joined the quest. Together, they refined the rules, balanced the gameplay, and transformed the ancient concept into the fun board game that is Adella.
Our Mission
We believe in the power of games to bring people together, spark imagination, and even connect us with history. With Adella, we aim to:
Crafted with Care
Every aspect of Adella, from the intricately designed game pieces to the carefully worded rules, has been crafted with attention to detail and a commitment to quality. We're proud to say that Adella is not just a game, but a piece of playable art made in the UK, that captures the spirit of Cornwall.
